First Run Priorities

Your first 20-minute deployment will likely fail — that is normal. Begin by reading van blueprints inside the van interior, listing active problems, and assigning roles before anyone leaves spawn. Fuel and tire issues block departure — fix those first using our repair checklist.

Doppler Radar and Storm Callouts

Assign one player as van anchor to monitor the Doppler Radar grid. When a tornado spawn zone shifts toward looters, broadcast immediately on CB Radio or walkie-talkie. Early warnings let teams relocate calmly instead of sprinting from a funnel already behind them. After patch 0.34.16, weather report retrieval should no longer crash — check radar every three to five minutes.

Loot Routing Under Pressure

• Split into two map halves — never send all players to one gas station
• Call out every tool find: "Found scissor jack at blue house, northeast block"
• Return to van before weather escalates — do not finish "just one more room"
• Gas stations and hardware stores are high-traffic — loot them early before tornadoes level them
• Use APEX tokens at the vending machine only after core repairs are underway

Communication Habits That Save Runs

Confirm walkie-talkies are ON before splitting. Use CB Radio for map-wide tornado alerts only. Warn teammates about burning or electrocuted status — both transfer on contact. Read communication systems and obstacles and hazards for full detail.

After Your First Escape

Store recovered APEX documents in the van vault, browse merit badges in the locker, and try night mode once you understand daylight routing. Track updates on patch notes and read solo viability if playing alone.
